What is Pilates?

Pilates is a mind-body exercise system designed to optimize physical fitness in people at every level of physical ability. Pilates is an excellent choice for individuals of all ages and fitness levels who have a variety of fitness goals. Pilates is complementary to many traditional fitness routines and the mind-body connection can be useful in preventing stress related illnesses like heart disease. (STOTT PILATES)


Who is Rachel?

Rachel, the owner of Eastern Shore Pilates, LLC, has been doing Pilates for 18 years. She is a STOTT PILATES certified instructor in mat and reformer, and has extensive training in chair, arc barrel and cadillac. In addition, Rachel has been a physical therapist for 20 years and is a Certified Pilates Rehabilitation Specialist.



Each Pilates session is one hour, private, and personalized to your needs and goals.

  • Individual Session: $50
  • Package of 10 Sessions: $450

I've never done Pilates before. Can I do it?

Absolutely! Pilates is great for all ages and fitness levels. There are literally hundreds of exercises that can be done on the mat, reformer and chair at varying levels of difficulty and complexity. In addition, your sessions are personalized and customized to your needs and ability.  Because of my experience using Pilates in treatment sessions as a physical therapist, I also know how to modify exercises if needed.

What type of equipment is used?

Besides traditional mat Pilates, we will be using a Pilates reformer (with tower), a Pilates combo chair, and other accessories. The equipment can be seen in the photos on this site.

Will you provide instruction at my home?

No, due to the fact that the Pilates equipment is not easily portable. I am located in Cheriton, VA, which is easily accessible from most of the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

How often should I have a session?

Session frequency varies from person to person based on their goals, schedule and other fitness-related activities they participate in. While two times per week is ideal to get the most benefit and carryover from session to session, I understand that this is not always possible. Ultimately, I will work with you to develop a schedule that works best for you. 

Do you offer group sessions?

If a couple or two friends would like to do a joint private session, contact me for details.
